Sacramento CA
Last night in Sacramento a carriage horse was attacked pretty badly by a loose at large pit bull. The dog ended up having to be shot (rightfully so for ANY breed) but I am so irritated because this shouldn't have happened. The owner was running behind the dog until the attack, and is now nowhere to be found. Dog had a collar so it wasn't a stray. All I can think is POOR HORSE! I am a pitbull owner and bully breed LOVER, but I am responsiable. My dog is never off leash, no matter what the circumstances, and I think dogs in general should NOT be allowed in Old Sac where the horse carriage goes. Unless it is a service dog. I am glad the dog was taken down before the horse was killed, but it is sad that both animals and everybody around had to experience that. I am so peeved at the owner for putting the dog, horse, and people in this situation and I really hope the horse is okay. What a way to start the christmas week! Poor people in old sac too! Yeesh, no good for anybody.

Anywho, rant over,

thanks for letting me post!

Advice: If you own a dog, or cat, or horse, or chicken (lol) please be responsiable.

) down the street who has 2 pit bulls and a german shepherd cross (i dont remeber what it was crossed with) and she can barely handle them. yesterday i walked by and they all ran up dragging her across the street. i had to take the leashes from her to bring them back to her house. people shouldnt get dogs they cant handle... and im generally all for people having pets.

Oh that's sad. You know what gets me is that not only do too many people run their dogs off-leash in areas where people and/or animals can be hurt, but some people use those obnoxious "extensions" that pretty much is the same as being unleashed. I was talking to someone on a jogging path and a guy going the other direction had one of that kind of leash and the dog comes up to me as I was standing about 15-20 feet away. The guy does nothing to control the dog! Thank goodness it was a friendly dog.
