Oh, I taught my dog to understand hand signals in her last years when she went deaf. I miss her.

No recipe really, cooking for birds is easy! I just take some whole wheat flour, some wheat bran, whatever grains I have on hand, maybe oatmeal (dry), etc. I mix it with water, add a couple eggs, and then throw in some sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, nuts, dried cranberries, raisins, whatever I have on hand. No need for sugar or anything to make it rise since it's for birds and you want it to be dense, not fluffy like we would for humans. I don't really measure, I just get it to a thick batter consistency, put it in greased pans and then bake it @ 350 for a while, longer than I would a human cake. I over-bake it, not to the point of being burnt of course, but harder is better for the birds so they can pick at it like a suet cake and it stands up to the rain better when baked well. I cool them well and put them out on platform feeders. The birds absolutely love them and I feel so pleased with myself!

Build custom nesting boxes, rebuilding the coop over and over again to make it better. Re-doing the pond bigger and better every month. The chickens and ducks get apples, mashed potatoes, grated carrots, sunflower seeds, grapes, tomato disks (those are fun to send flying and watch them run for it), salad (Sans dressing, but with croutons).

Yeah they are spoiled.

What I do for my pets????
I buy bottled water so all the pets and chickens don't drink out icky well water.
I make the dogs "homemade" food. Beef Stew, Chicken and Rice, Tuna and yogurt with a little fruit, shredded Pork with apple sauce. They just get a spoonfull to mix in with their kibble. I buy the meat that is on sale and freeze it until I need it. I used to buy canned dog food to add a little zip to their kibble, however, cans have gotten so expensive, that it is actually cheaper for me to make my own "mix-ins".
I give all the critters birthday presents, they get Christmas Presents, they each have their own Christmas stockings. They also get a special Thanksgiving and Christmas Feasts.
I sleep up in funny positions so the dogs don't have to move.
I feed the wild birds and squirrls all sorts of fun stuff. I make peanut butter sandwiches with my old bread for the squirrls.
I buy my horse her favorite treats here in WI and send to CA where she lives so she gets her goodies. I usually send so carrot money to her as well.
I bought a food dehydrator so I can dehydrate apples for my rabbit. I even planted apple trees for his...ok me too! But I planted the kinds he likes...
Oh...we bought a van-- specifically for the dogs so everyone (all 8!) get to go for "a bye ride" all at the same time-so no one is left at home. It is great puppy fun!! We call it the Dog Van. We plan buy rides in the country and have a special travel water bowl that sticks to carpet so they can drink as needed.

I cook spaghetti for the chickens, dig worms for the chickens, buy hamburger patties from the local restaurant for one of the dogs, buy french fries AND cut them up for the chickens. For the cats, I buy obscenely expensive toys, make sure I buy the non chopped cat food, or go to the store at the middle of the night for them to get the right food, make mashed potatoes for Pudster, Sweet potatoes are his preference. Quack the duck loves peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches. I'm not going to list everything, those are the easy ones.
