my welsummer rooster is in the background. We had to make stew with him. He was extremely aggressive. I will not try anotherI'm close enough , I was thinking on getting a welsummer rooster or a barred rock
I've always heard good stories about aracaunas seriously considering getting one, anyone know what New Hampshire reds are like??I currently have black Ameracauna rooster who has been wonderful. Speckled Sussex have varied; one was wonderful, two were jerks. Salmon Favorelles are sweethearts, IMO. It depends on your goals and breeds you find interesting, there is no one right answer. Marans roosters have been nice here too. I get straight run chicks in breeds I want to try, and keep one or two likely cockrels, then see how they mature. Mary
. Well my friend has a new hamp and its the sweetest thing ever he also has a very kind and lovely Wyandotte roosterNew Hamps tend to be tough pushy birds, IMO. Mine certainly were! Auracaunas are very rare, probably hard to find, unless a breeder lives nearby. It depends are the makeup of your flock and your breeding goals. Australorps tend to be nice; so many choices! Mary
I've always had good luck with frizzle Cochin roosters. They are very docile. The only standard rooster I've had good luck with is an Americauna. I've had some really nasty roosters!!!
