Bantam silkys. They are 15 weeks old. They are smaller then regular silkys due to being bantam hence the size. But they have been outside for 4 weeks now no issues. I breed silkys but still learning about sexing.

Wondering what sex they are? If anyone can tell? Cheers

Can only see two here with clear pronounced combs. It's not about comb size as such, more so how prounced and bumpy they are. For instance, I have five hens with smooth but large combs.

All silkies are bantam, they're a bantam only breed :) there's someone I believe who was in the UK trying to breed standard sized ones but all silkies are bantam ^^
In the US all Silkies are considered bantam despite the HUGE size discrepancy.

The British standard calls for both bantam and large fowl Silkies.

Depending on which standard is being bred to it may allow for bearded or non bearded as well.

Since we are all in the WWW.. we cannot presume which standard one may be breeding to and despite being in the US I still chose to breed to the French standard when breeding Marans and consider the US APA standard for Marans to be inferior really.. but that's a personal preference thing... either way.. some breed to the Australian standard, and so on.. We're just one big happy family! :wee

ETA: All birds pictured are non bearded.. look at wattles not combs.. and consider behavior. None are crested well enough to point to gender... otherwise start looking at feather color clues.

ETAA: At 15 weeks.. I'm going ALL pullets! :fl

I've always thought my silkies were bantams as that was how they were sold to me. Now I'm thinking I should weigh them, that will be fun (not) to see which standard they fit.

But anyway, my rooster would not be showable because his feathers and eyes are a non standard colour.

Silkie purists would die if I tried to show him! 😂
