I have been around pigeons for years.
I still make mistakes when pairing birds.
I would say I am 90% or above accurate in paring.
If it does not lay an egg chances are it is a male.
(but do not bet the farm on that either)
The one thing I know is 100% correct is
"If it lays an egg it is female"
I heard of one bird a buddy of mine was convinced it was a sterile male for years. Then you guess it laid one egg. It was shortly after that buddy found out his male was actually female.
