What sex do you think my pekin bantam babies are?

Cute birds. Hope all works out. Iris does look fairly female there but it still is early days, some boys don't "show" until they're beyond the age when their sisters are already laying.

The neck feathers on Iris look a little too silvered to me. Hens often have something similar to rooster neck hackling but not the same, so that could be it, but I thought her neck feathers would have stayed the way they were in the previous pic. Not sure. Bit of a blurry pic.

We live in the suburbs and I know we are allowed one rooster but 2 might be pushing it with the neighbours.

Does anyone know how noisy pekin bantam roosters are I have no experience of keeping one? Also we have 7 girls all standard size except for 1 pekin girl would this work?

Ohhh just feel really sad don't want to get rid of them they are just too precious

I have a cute pekin bantam male, he's adorable and his noise calling thing isn't too loud at all just rather high pitched. this is what i was told by the breeder cause i haven't actually heard any other chickens noise. My chicken coop is about 30 meters from my kitchen and i can't hear him... ever.

kpborkowski I had 2 little fellas, they weren't overly loud (i live in the city) and our neighbours didn't complain, although we did have to sell them because they were starting to crow earlier and earlier during spring->summer, but with the windows closed you could hardly hear them inside - their coop was roughly 10 meters from our house. it also depends on the individual

You are right but they are wrong.Cochin are large feather footed Indian birds whilst Pekins come from China and are true bantams with no larger class in the breed. It is owing to the fact that both birds have similar feathered feet but that is where it stops. It is really upsetting when showing birds in shows as some even list the class as Cochin small. I had argument with officials in a European nation and won as my parting statement shocked them to the core. I said,and it is true,that my ancestor Major John Parr was one of the first army officers to have brought them back from the Palace in Pekin during the Boxer revolution. So he called them his Pekin bantam hens.They were all buff coloured and daintier than now. My family have had a long association with this delightful gentle breed. Love them all and cannot wait for the next hatch this summer.It will be the last for one of my cockerels as we need to have new blood. I know an excellent buff Pekin breeder who wins show after show and lives in Germany so over to collect soon.

I don't think you have high chances of it not crowing. My pekin was so small but crowed ALL throughout the morning and day! It gets annoying after a while.
