What sex is our splash Silkie?

Boy do we have bad luck picking out hens! I think Winnifred is a cockerel... what say you? Splash Silkie approx 15 weeks old. I’m seeing the beginnings of a comb and spiky freathers on back of his head.

It is very hard to sex a silkie... normally silkie ownerss wait until they crow or lay an egg.

Yes, I've read this. Winnifred looks different than our other silkie chick though with the spiky feathers and what looks like a comb forming. Just hoping for confirmation from some of you experts. I've found a lovely new home for our Easter Egger cockerel and if Winnie is a male then perhaps the new owner would take both cockerels. They like each other and grew up together.

It looks like he/she is starting to develop streamers that makes me think boy but the rest of him/her looks like a girl. It is very hard to tell with silkies. I breed silkies and I still haven't figured out the trick for sexing them before they crow. Lol

I was given 11 Silkie eggs from a couple who have shown them for years.
I phoned to let them know how many had hatched and asked if I could take them through the following week to determine the sex.
They laughed and said, ‘Well, if they lay an egg they’re a pullet and if they crow they’re a cockerel’
To be honest, they were just balls of fluff for months.......could hardly tell which END was which!!

Looks like a pullet to me. I'd expect more defining male traits by 15 weeks. If its a cockerel it slower developing than "normal" I'd say.

The big, fat comb makes me think cockerel. Girls tend to have slim combs

Does the formation of the comb make a difference? This one has a lump there and my other Silkie doesn't.

It's very fat and rounded. My other Silkie doesn't have anything there.
