What is loosing?

The Turkey is losing feathers on it's head.

I am not sure what it is. Those are awfully small caruncles for a tom.

We butchered one the other day with caruncles on the small side. We have 1 Jake left to butcher.

Our Bourbon Red Hen has a beard, & large-ish caruncles on her neck, mohawk, & small snood. She started laying eggs earlier this year too.

Judging the sex on a turkey that you see daily is not the same as judging the sex of a turkey from an Internet picture. I can usually start sexing my turkeys at one month old but I will not try to judge the sex of a turkey from an Internet picture when I don't even know the age of the turkey.

For what it matters, I think the bird is probably a hen, but I agree that some more pictures would make the ID a lot more certain.
