Hi! Not sure how this works. We have many chickens and have decided to add geese. Just curious as the kids want to name the geese and we have no idea what gender they are. Thank you

Geese are really hard to sex, especially as goslings. I’d go with gender neutral names until they’re old enough to get a better idea. I’ll be honest, until they start laying, I’ve never been able to tell them apart, that’s why I now raise pilgrims.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts we are super excited to start a new journey with geese! I also was leaning towards ganders for my embdens. Does anyone know why one has more of an orange beak and feet while the other two are a paler pink? I have also heard that vent sexing or egg laying will really be out only sure fire way. Will 3 gander be OK without a female?

Our Saint Bernard has really seemed to enjoy them as well!

@Iain Utah stated out with just ganders I think as long as there are no females they are okay but they may want to mate with you or your children when the get to sexual maturity. Always best to have ganders during mating season confined away from kids unless with adults! And go to the sticky’s you’ll find great info there.i have an Embden gander just turned 13 yrs old hatched here.
