What should I do about my roo?

I have a beautiful 7 month old mutt of a roo. I also have 2, 2 year old Easter Eggers and 10, 8 month old Sumatra hens. My 2 Easter Eggers have never been around a rooster before and he has chosen them as his "favorites," he dosn't even look at the Sumatras. My two Easter Eggers are terrified of him and they have been staying in the rafters of my chicken house for the past three days. I had to lock up the rooster to even get them to come down and eat and drink. I was wondering if he will grow out of it or if the hens will eventually come down on their own but I have never had a rooster before so this situation is new to me.
I really would like to keep him but if I have to choose between him and my two hens, I will choose my hens.
Thanks for any advice you can give,
Whitney

a 7 month old roo is going to be crazy rough on the hens. He doesn't know how to be gentle yet - but he will get it after another 6 months or so. Don't worry about the two hens - Chickens have been doing this stuff for a long time - once he establishes him self as the head chicken things will settle down & he will be protective. The other roos need to go though.

You can't have too many roos around or someone will be pounded. I have 15 hens & 2 roos - but 1 roo is a silkie - he shacks up with the two silkie hens & the 2 polish hens - Russell Crows gets the rest.
