I have 3 eggs that are due to hatch just anytime and we are expecting storms all week! Power is already out in some places. What do I do if the power goes out during lockdown or after they hatch?!?

I've been thru this several times and it's not fun. Before we got a generator I would wrap heavy towels around the incubator, being careful not to cover the vents. This will work for several hours if the house temp doesn't get too cold. I've heard of electric being off for 8 hours and most of the chicks still hatch although the hatch may be delayed.
I've heard of people putting the incubator in their car with the heater full blast.
I've also heard of hatching chicks in your bra!

If the chicks have already hatched I would keep mine next to the gas fireplace where it was warmer. And the car may be another option.
So with a little ingenuity you can save your chicks.
But it's better if the electric just stays on.

I have my incubator running from a battery powered UPS meant for the computer I no longer use, just in case the power goes out.
If your power only goes out for short times, like a few hours, you can pick up a cheap UPS somewhere.

Thank you all! So far the storms haven't been too bad at our house and the power has stayed on! Praying it stays that way! Now I just continue to wait very impatiently on our little chicks to hatch :)
