What should I do? Risk of pecking each other?

Hello! So I have 5 chickens and they are free ranging but today it is going to be 118 degrees outside and they are used to 90 degree weather so I brought them in because they struggle with the heat as it is and with this heat I am not willing to take the risk of losing one. So I put 2 dog crates together and put fruit and food and mealworms on the ground for them to snack on but now I am worried that they are miserable and are going to peck each other in such a small space, they will be in there till 7:00 at night and I feel terrible but I don’t want them to get heat stroke because I won’t be home to check on them.what do you think? Should I put 3 in one crate and 2 in the other to lower the risk?

I'd put them all together. :idunno

Could you back the cages up to each other, where it's door to door, and zip tie it -- or drop a weight behind them so they stay together..?

I hope I am explaining myself correctly 😆
