My Rhode Island Red rooster who is a few months old, was found lying in a gate hole lying ever so still with his eyes closed. I thought he was dead and was afraid to pick him up. I picked him up and held him ,talked to him, petting him, and giving him kisses. I put him into a bird cage ,gave him food and water, and put wood shavings on the bottom for him to use as a bed. He drank one-half of the cup of water inside the cage and ate some food. I have a very dominate Araucana rooster who chases him all over the pasture, stalks him and pecks him. This other rooster also does that to his brother except his brother is stronger and larger and he gets away from him to join the group of other roosters. Should I leave this Rhode Island Red rooster in the bird cage until he gets larger or just until he is feeling much stronger and perkier? I want him to join his other Rhode Island Red brothers and be able to keep up with his peers.
