So I put over 24 eggs in the bator. I wathced them and checked the temp but. I had the thermometer taped to a peice of cardboard laying on the eggs. I candled a couple of eggs, I'm inexperienced and I don't think I had the best flashlight, (I bought a new one today). One I cracked open and it had an eye. The other looked blotchy to me so I candled it and it didn't look good so I cracked it open and it was no good.

Well the thing is a few days say 4 days before hatch I took the thermometer off the card board and put it in the bator like I had had it on a previous hatch.

Why? Cause I noticed the temp was not increasing like it should. I thought this is strange, I should be turning this thing down cause the temp should be rising as the chicks generate heat. That wasn't happening so I took the thermometer off the cardboard and when I put the thermometer back in I had to turn the crank on full turn to get the temp to rise to 100.0 .

So now is day 21 counting day of set and nothing.

Hand turning like before. stopped at day 17.

Hum. over 40 maybe 50.

Should I wait one or two more days?
Should I start candleing eggs?
Would the hatch be delayed cause of the temp thing?

I did buy a new thermometer so next time I will have two.
Should I look at putting a new thermo wafer thingy in the incu? Hova bator 1205.

Temp has gone up slightly.
Last hatch it kept going over the 100.0 mark.

What would you do?
It's not the eggs so much as the time.

I woulld wait at least a couple more days. Some people even say wait 5 more days after hatch day. Don't give up hope yet. And i would not open the incubator either for those days.
Good luck

I also agree. Leave it closed and wait at least till Monday.

I did the same thing. 35 eggs in the bator.... only 2 hatched the rest nothing.

It was crazy. The bator was borrowed and I guess I just didn't have something right. The temp was set good.
Not sure about the humidity. I didn't have a moniter for that.

So, new batch started today.......... in my new bator!

Good Luck, i really hope you have some hatch!

Well I've noticed a crack in one egg and my wife just said "I hear cheeping" so maybe some will do well praise God. I have a busy day tomorrow but how am I going to get to sleep. maybe a pill tonight.

Well good morning. The one from last night is still not out. Never a good thing when they take a long time. Not a sign of a strong chick. Two more have started to peep.

I don't know, I had one that took almost 16 hours and it's the biggest, feistiest chick in the brooder right now. And I had one that pipped, zipped 1/2 way within 3 hours, and died before hatch. So don't give up.

Well now that seems to be the case here too. One started and got out but had something hanging off it but it's been staggering around for an hour. The one I posted about is out but not before I stuck a straw throught the vent hole and gave it a bit of help. For some reason the membrane was tough. I would say the humidity is low but it's been over 50 since the beginning and over sixty for a while.
The one that was taking over 24hrs is a CM. The one that zipped faster I think is a mutt, though I thought I had chosen carefully and all should have been Dels or CM's.
There is still one pecking but I wouldn't help unless it was 75% or more of the way out and lasted as long.
Day 21 would have been 28 or 29th depending one whether you count the start day.
The last time I removed them as they hatched but won't this time. I think the rolling around and peeping of others is motivation to get out.
Then too I can't understand why just these three are the only ones. I am postive the CM's were all fertile. Now that I think of it I wonder if the roo and three hens are related. I got them as chicks from the same person.

Here's the run down. Furnace not working this morning. 3 chicks out and in brooder. Will unplug incu tomorrow. 0ver 24 eggs three chicks not good. See "I hate to start post."
