I have BCM eggs in the incubator. Today is day 26 and I gathered the unhatched eggs to dispose of them when one chirped at me. I immediately took it back inside and put it back in the incubator which I had just turned off, but had left the lid off so the humidity and temps were going down. I plugged it back in and added some warm water. I'm afraid I may have damaged or killed it by taking it outside. Is there a chance it still might hatch? It hasn't pipped at all yet.

Any advice?
Thanks,
Cheryl

I've never had to help one out before. How should I do it?

If it didn't pip by day 26, it may be underdeveloped. Did the other eggs hatch on time?

I think my temps must have been a little low, I had 1 hatch on day 22 and 3 hatch on day 24.

I am nervous! If there isn't a pip hole to start with, how would I make one without injuring the chick? Sorry for being a nervous nellie!

Candle the egg and see where the air cell is. That is where you need to start a hole. A sharp screw might work to spin on the shell to create a hole. Look for the beak and then peel away slowly. Watch for blood in the viens. If there is still some you will have to put it back in the bator. It will need more time. Good luck.
