What Should I Make of This.....?

I wouldn't take it personally, she probably just asked cause she saw you out in the yard, I don't think she was trying to make a big deal out of it (she did say she dosn't have anything against pitbulls (stafford) She was probably just trying to give you a polite heads-up (reading in between the lines, there are small children, some people are prejudiced against the ay certain dogs look, protect yourslef from angry people) Anyways, your dogs don't sound like a problem, Most people know that despite our best efforts some times our beloved pets "escapre" for a monet or two, and usually no harm is done, it just happens such is life. No I don't think she was being rude at all.

Personally, I would be much more concerned for the safety of anyone coming in contact with my Chesapeake Bay Retriever if any member of our family is nervous or agitated. If we're ok, she's ok, but startle us and look out lucy, she's 92 lbs of teeth and fur.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Although I was at first agitated, I think it was b/c I have dealt with the person that walks on the other side of the street b/c they see "us" coming. I have also had people let their dogs play with my girl and as they are playing the person says,"She is beautiful. What breed is she?" When I tell them they say,"Come on Ginger, let's go home."

She does have a responsibility to the children and their safety - I understand that. It just seemed so odd that she would inquire, as we have lived here for 13 years and have owned a Rottweiler and AmStaf X previously and these girls have been with us almost 3 yrs.

Maybe I could offer to do a presentation with my girl and the safety precautions to take when approaching any dog. Turn it to a positive.

Here is an awesome link-

Pit Bulls also used to be called Yankee Terriers.

I think a presentation or demo would be a great idea!

Thanks for that link it was awesome. I agree with the fact that little dogs are worse than big dogs for biting. I keep my girls away from all dogs I don't know though but would never cross the street.
