Hello fellow poultry keepers. just thought i would ask you all what do you believe to be a fair price for a adult turkey?

I put an add up on craigslist for when my bronze turkeys get older and i can sell them to local buyers for thanksgiving meals. I put in the add $50 a turkey butchered or not butchered their choice as a buyer.

I have one buyer so far for thanksgiving they will be traveling south for the holiday and were going to pick it up on the way down so i would be butchering it for them. is $50 to much or not enough for the average turkey weight?

the buyer was also asking for the broadbreasted bronze turkey breed is there a way to identify them from the other standard breed of bronze. so i can make sure thats the kind i have.

thanks for your help and reading.

Broad breasted get huge fast. In 20 weeks a Tom will be pushing twenty pounds. A standard bronze will grow much slower and will be about twenty pounds in eight months. There is a tread here about the price of a heritage turkey and a lot of people sold their birds for fifty dollars. A broad breasted however is worth much less. Hope this helps!
