I don't know what happened to her but my neighbor was complaining about my animals(in my fenced in yard) so I put the geese up in their pen yesterday. She appeared to be fine and fussed at me. This morning the she appears to be dying. Right now I just need to know what I should be giving it to give her the energy to eat on her own. I also saw she has lost tremendous weight fairly quickly and has a runny nose that i definately didn't notice yesterday. The male appears to be fine, but I am keeping an eye on him also. I soaked some cat food with a tiny bit of sugar( I don't have anything else right now). I ran a search and couldn't find anything on what to give a sick GOOSE!

Weight loss is a gradual thing, so if she seems really skinny to you (description of tremendous weight loss) she has likely been sick for at least a week or longer. Can you take her and a fecal sample to a vet?

What was she eating before? Was she free ranging on green grass pasture? Geese can eat commercial chicken food, and are often raised on this until they are old enough to range on pasture. You can blenderize purina flock raiser (or similar) for nutrition. You can add fresh green/veggies to that. Greens= fresh untreated pasture grasses, kale, chard, ect. Not lettuce- minimal nutrition in this. Oxbow brand critical care for herbivores is a nice powder diet that you add water to, and fits through a syringe- a great supplement to get herbivores back on their feet.

The last time I picked her up was a month ago so she has had that long to lose weight without me knowing it. She free ranges in my yard on green grass. I think the weight loss is from what ever is causing the runny nose, but I am afraid if I don't get something down her she will die of dehydration, etc. I am fixing up some electrolytes, but past that I don't know what to do for her. i noticed her shaking her beak a lot about three days ago, but I figured it was from playing in the pond. And she appeared to be eating good yesterday, at least I saw her eating when i gave them some grain. that afternoon I saw her laying down after I penned her up, but didn't think anything of it. the difference between yesterday and today is unbelieveable. Even the kids say she was fine yesterday. I feel really bad that I don't know what to do and didn't catch anything wrong sooner.

I dont know much about sick geese, because I have one of my own. But I do know that you can give her some sugar water to bost her up, or just something with electrolytes in it such as gatorade, just add sugar to boiling water and stur it untill it disolves, just add enough sugar to the boiling water untill its really sweet. let it cool then fill a syringe and help her drink, If no syringe use a spoon.

Well, I dewormed her also in case it was possibly worm infestation causing it and I will also continue to syringe feed her.

Well I got her to drink some sugar water on her own, but she is still lethargic and sounding sad when she talks. The male has been hovering as close as he can get trying to talk to her. She was a weak honk and wont get up on her own and has been tucking her head. Other than drinking on her own she isn't any better and I am stuck here at home with no vehicle. I am afraid she will be dead by tomorrow.
