What should vet techs know about US?

I agree with what everyone has said. They should also know that because so few vets treat chickens most chicken owners are amateur chicken docs in their own right by means of necessity. These birds are important to us and our way of life no matter if they are meat birds or layers or pets. We want them as healthy as our cats and dogs, etc.

WE ARE bringing a couple of chickens - our little Silkie, Cinnamon, who is super-docile, and our Andalusian pullet, Frank, who is a real character. I imagine that Miss Frank will land on someone's head at some point in the presentation.
I will take some pictures & post them next week.

Me too!
I agree that it's important they know that not all people view their chickens in the same light. For some, they're truly pets, which may be news to a lot of people still! I got my first chickens after I'd left my job as a vet tech. I had no idea that anyone would have a pet chicken.

Mostly funny! My brother is one and works for a great lady...he called me the other day because they got a little pig in (not many in their practice) and asked for my opinion...I worked for a major hog producer (with the vets for over a year!) The pig was suffering from a condition known as greasy pig...fairly common and easy to treat in controlled conditions. Mainly I suffer from vet envy (I didn't realize they were gonna hold my chemistry grades against me

Really glad you are getting the word out that birds are people...I mean animals too!
