What size nesting boxes?

I am almost done building my coop, I have three BR girls ( I want to add more chickens though! I'm hooked..) What size should I make the nesting boxes?

My father in law made mine 16 X 16 inches and i think they are too big, built great but i would havew been happy with 14 inches. Good Luck!
