What small breed of puppy do you recommend?

Just as a pet, I love a Shih Tzu. We have had 2, both very good dogs, and they "herd"! So great to watch them nose a kid! They do have grooming requirements, a little expensive unless you learn to clip them your self. But -- if I were to get another dog, it would be a Shih Tzu pup. They are the lap dog of Chinese Royalty, bred for centuries to be your pet.

My Husky was an awesome digger - I timed her once, it took her 28 seconds to dig enough of a hole to squeeze out under the chainlink fence. Granted, the fencing wasn't properly installed as there was no tension wire along the bottom, but 28 seconds sheesh! Luckily I was renting a very, very old farmhouse on a very dead end road. I ended up running an electric fence along the bottom of the chainlink - about 4" above the ground and 3" away from the fencing itself. She would lay in the electric fence with no problem, but it would zap her on her feet whenever she decided to dig out.
AND yes she was a talker. She would howl occasionally; well, every day at noon when the noon-whistle blew when we lived in town. The neighbors thought it was cool, which I thought made them cool!:thumbsup

I dont know much about small breed dogs but I have seen two breeds own by two different people who had the calmest smaller dogs. One was a French bulldog and the other was a Boston terrier.

I contacted a couple breeders that breed Cavaliers and they're both expecting a litter in the fall. So I've decided to get one of those.. They're a bit pricey but I thinks it's well worth it to have a smaller dog with such a great personality. Plus it gives a lot of time to do research etc..

That’s awesome!! Congrats!!

They are great little spaniels, friendly and loving. You will be fortunate to get one from a good breeder. Congrats on an excellent choice!
