What sort of treats should I give my chicks?

Washed play sand works well. You can get it at Lowes or Home Depot fairly cheaply.

With my chicks at about 3 weeks old, I have been treating them with small amounts of crushed popcorn (which has already been popped). The chickens take the small bits readily from my hand. In fact they go wild when they hear the noise of the popcorn crunching in my hand or when they see me open the ziploc storage bag of popcorn.

I am also putting small pet bird grit in with their chick feed to ensure they get any grit they may need to digest the small bits of popcorn. Again, this is just a treat in very small portions. Of course, no one will ever be safe with a bag of popcorn around these chickens.

When my chicks hit the two week mark I just started giving treats. I prvided grit on days I gave treats.

I tried the eggs....meh...not to crazy about them. I tried seedless grapes on another day with the skins peeled off....ok response....they liked it but didn't go wild.

On the fourth try I gave them some plain yogurt. OMG! They went crazy! They LOVED it.

Usually they will stay away from me if possible but with the yogurt they were suddenly my best friends.
