What spider is that?

Ok, so it wasn’t just me. That thing lookEd like the 2-foot long one we hang on the porch to drop down on trick or treaters!

I am able to content myself when i am suddenly confronted with the sight of a huge spider, but having one unexpectedly crawling over my skin would definitely make me jump. One in my face likely would stop my heart…

I do a lot of hiking and when I walk through an unseen spider web it always freaks me out. I got bit by a spider by walking through a web once and got sick with fever a couple hours later. Had a huge welt where it bit me.

Black and yellow Orb weavers are pretty docile arachnids that we see in the fall when the female is ready to lay an egg sac .♀🕷

She can hang out there until the first frost will kill her, i will even watch carefully for her egg-sack.

You guys are all so calm. I may have set the whole place on fire if i saw that spider hanging from my porch. I am not a fan, even though I understand the reasons why I should be. They are just SO creepy crawly.

A turquoise TARANTULA?

From Sri Lanka, apparently. I think she wanted a pink one but this was what was available. She ended up donating it to her school.

We have one on our back porch this year. Sadly, they drop off when the weather gets chilly. I've read they don't have the best eyesight, and are supposed to be gentle enough you can hand feed them.. but because of the eyesight they can accidentally nip you. I love seeing them every year.
