What standalone timer to use for an egg turner in a homemade incubator

Egg turners generally do not use timers. They use 12v ultra low rph motors in lieu of a timer. The eggs get turned 3-4x in a 24 hour period. It's nearly impossible to see the movement of a purchased turner when watching it it is so slow.

Here’s what it says
Turning Motor:
AC110V 50/60Hz
2.5r/3r/min ≤4W
CW/CCW

Not sure what that second to the last line means. Maybe translate for me. The timer won't effect speed of the motor. Off/on function only. If it turns that fast in one minute then I think your solution is a rheostat to slow the motor down and/or using different gearing to slow the speed down at tray level.

I don't want to dissuade you from your efforts but why. Sometimes just because it can be done doesn't me we should do it. I guess it's the value of our time.

It’s 2.5 to 3 revolutions per minute is what that means clockwise or counterclockwise. I figure I could use a potentiometer also. It just seems like it is going to turn way too fast I am going to try something else right now. You are correct about the timer not affecting the speed but the timer will control how far it moves per second so if I set the timer for 2 seconds every three or four hours that is going to get the correct rotation if that is the right equation you follow me

Yup. I understand completely. I'm 60 and what your doing is primo example of why I continue to take my vyvanse on a daily basis.

I looked at some of the diy turners built by members and that's why I bought 2.
Remember movement should be gentle. It is very easy to disassociate the germ with jerky movements. One of the reasons shipped eggs have such low hatch rates. The cells get separated and never get back together. Particularly sensitive and fragile at the beginning. Candling an egg to quickly anytime during those 21 days can kill the embryo.

So I hooked it up directly to power and counted how many times it rocks the turner in one minute and it is 2.5 times per minute. it should be way slower than that. I will have to go back to the drawing board or put a different motor on
