what egg candler to you recommend?

I use a little Maglite LED flashlight that I got at The Home Depot for under $3.00. Works better than any other contraption or light I've used!

I was using a box-with-hole and lamp method and realized when I chucked 3 viable eggs that home-made wasn't so swift. I couldn't really see much of anything, just whether I had a clear egg or not.

THEN.... I sent away for an got a Cool-Lite tester. OMG!!! It's like watching Egg TV! I could see all sorts of veins and detached air cells and blobs and even a future double-yolker (Hey! There's two embryos in this one!). Best of all, you don't have to move the eggs if you can get your room dark. You can test in the bator! Best $$ I ever spent.... well, maybe it shares that distinction with the automatic egg turner.....

I use a two D cell LED Mag-lite with a funnel I made out of cardboard. I can even see thru the dark brown eggs.

If you are willing to pay about $60, then buy the Egg-Lume. I love it! So much better than a Maglite or an LED. Ten times better!

I also LOVE my Egg-Lume candler!

Wow . . you can see everything, even in the brown eggs!

I feel so much better about dumping a bad egg now, because I'm SURE it is no good!

I use a US$2 LED torch with my "cupped hand". works good.
