What the duck are my duckies doing there?

Mine do it too. Mine have also come up with roots of what ever plant the are noodling around. If there is a puddle of water bigger than a half dollar in my duck pen they are noodling in it. They also seem to like to drink that water too instead of the nice fresh water I put out. I like to call it noodling because the sound reminds me of someone slurping noodles.

are those hook bill ducks???
Nope, Fawn and white Indian Dig-Ducks. ;)
They looked like coal miners when i herded them back to their platform. Well that fits for WV!
I would love to have some hook-bill ducks, first they became rare and i think that's sad, second they are the best egg layers and third they look noble with their hooked bills, just the glasses are missing…

But they could also be trying to dig a hole for you to fall in. Sometimes it seems like mine are trying to make a mine field waiting for me to fall in the holes they have made.
Must be a revenge plot from my "evil" drake, Donald. He still does not know how to get out of the kiddy pool, i had him sitting there for over an hour yesterday, i just did not like to go back out i the rain…

I have to join this crowd between the chickens making moon size craters and the ducks billing in the muds our bird property is a sight. They love it so that is all that matters.
That's the reason why i'm planning to have multiple areas fenced in for the duckies. I don't mind having a lunar landscape in front of my patio, but i'm living on a steep hill-site and the grass is all that prevents it from sliding, learned that the hard way in spring…
