Got a new baby! Someone had given it to a lady as a gift for her 4 small children, and the lady decided it needed a new home.

Lucky me!

It's used to being around people and has imprinted on all of us. Its name is Sparkles, and we just adore her (or him). She's too little to be outside with the other animals, so we get to enjoy having a baby in the house for a few weeks, and I'm so happy! She's precious!!

What do you think she may end up looking like?

The placement of color reminds me of a magpie duck, but I have no real experience with them so I'm probably way off. It's adorable either way though!

I think it's neat to watch them feather and figure out what breed you have. It's like a game. I had ducklings I thought were pekins but they turned out to be buffs and a blue splash Swedish. But I understand the want for finality! :) sweet baby no matter what! Omg so cute.

You're right, it IS like a game! It's fun to guess.

When we had that Rouen it was even more fun, because we thought it was a girl, and then magically one day it had a white collar and a beautiful green head.

Sparkles' pin feathers are starting to come in, so it's just a matter of time now. :) I wonder if that itches? LOL

I love her freckled bill. She is so sweet.

If she ends up grey and white, we'll end up with a color combination of ducks that matches the color combination of dogs we have. We have a white boxer, and a Pekin hen. A black and white beagle, and a (mean) magpie drake. A grey and white cat, and possibly a grey and white duck. LMAO

You say mean Magpie drake? What does he do?
