lmao The girls(and Eeyore the scovy drake) didn't quite know what to think about their new brother and sister the other day!

Thanks to this forum.....we have ventured into the turkey world and I have to say "you guys were right" they ARE just like dogs! I never thought they would be as friendly as they are! So thank you BYC, and the turkey owners here on the duck forum! LOL

I thought about Turkeys, but read alot about not having Turkeys and chickens together and all my flock runs together so I had to drop the idea. But I really like them.

That's weird...the lady I got these two from has all of her turkeys and chickens living together!

. My Geese still have that same reaction to my young tom.

I used to have a Bourbon Red tom, and he and my African gander would get into amazing pushing matches. You know how geese have their own way of doing "male territorial combat: and turkeys have their way? Well, the gander would do the "head low and horizontal-with-hissing" and the tom would butt his chest against the gander's and wrap his long neck around the gander's long neck, and they would just push and pull until I broke it up.

The ducks would keep their distance when those two were doing their thing!

Finally I had to keep the turkey in a separate part of the barn and pen so he and the gander would stop duking it out.

One of my friends had a turkey and it was the meanest thing. You couldn't get out at her house unless you honked the horn and she came out and got the turkey. One time another friend went to her house with me and her dad had to come out and get the turkey because it really wanted to get him.

It depends where you live. Here in AK a LOT of common viruses and all get killed over winter, so we can house turkeys together with, anything really. I'd suggest you start by getting a poult and raising it with the chicks, so that it won't be lonely and see if it gets black head. If it does, cull for human reasons, if it doesn't, well, it doesn;t, LOL
