What the Heck am I Doing WRONG?!

ha I have had that sometimes too., if funny right, I always say oh no not again, giggle and then open and relase the little thing from its head lock. I always wished I had a camera but I feel to bad to leave it that way and go to get it so I never get a pic.

well I dont understand it either mine are 2 days old now and are falling over dead like hot cakes, they hatched I made sure all of them have drank water and I have food everywhere, but for some reason they are falling over their own feet and the next thing I know they are dead!! I have already lost about 12

I give sugar water the first day, thats helps. Some do die if to weak after hatching, but agree free air is one thing people forget, closing vents to keep humdity up. I keep vents open and add more water surface.

vents were open we had all kinds pip and were zipping and just die before they made it out . but now the hatch is over and they are dropping like flies. I dont know if I should give them vitamin water like I do my chicks or not. they are acting weird. they will be walking and then start flipping like they are having some kind of a seizure or something then in the morning they are dead.

OK... I'm gonna give this a shot for everybody... Here's what works best for me,,, I have hatched many-many quail. I build all of my own incubators. I have found thru experience that my birds fare better when incubated at 100-102* with good ventilation and 50% humidity... I raise my humidity to 65-75% in the hatcher and I move my quail to the hatcher on the end of day 14. If hatching in the bator, try to keep humidity at 65% and you should be fine. I've seen hatchlings lethargic with a high mortality rate when incubated in the 98-99.5* temp range. (Just seems to be case with coturnix quail) I have a friend in Ga. that I sent eggs to and she had a high motality rate on her first hatch. (99* temp range) I advised her to raise to above temp and sent more eggs, second hatch rate was 85% with chicks vibrant and healthy.
Like I said, this works great for me! Hope this helps!

nope, when they first started they would be up walking then it was like their feet went out and they would start rolling and cant get up. I just got 2 more out of there dead. there are at least 6 more that are acting funny. butts up in the air heads down on the floor then they get to where they cant get up at all lay on their side currled up in a ball and then die. I just dont understand it.
