I don't know how long they can live like that, but I kept a hen around that I liked for nearly a year with that condition. She had such the will to live... however I should have done her in much sooner.

Her body seems to have encase it in multiple layers of growth, most likely to protect her. I now know the signs of this too fir out future flocks. I will take care of one of these chickens much sooner next time.
