What the heck is this on my trail cam

Thank you everyone for your help and knowledge Last night I didn’t sleep I keep checking to see if it came back and it was a no show maybe my cat aka bobcat, Mountain lion scared it off

I’m having trouble with the possum theory. The only thing that says possum is the animals right ear in the second photo. Everything else shouts weasel family to me. Weasel, mink, Fisher, ermine, etc. the nose is so short and the body profile is so low and stout. Possums aren’t shaped like that really.

But the nose isn’t short? In the first photo it’s facing the camera and you can’t see its snout.
There’s no mustelid with that color anyway. It’s got a white body with dark ears, exactly like a possum.

I'm thinking opossum also. Maybe a second camera will help..

Definitely a young possum. Not a baby as they ride around on mom until they’re the size of a small kitten.

Ok I see it now. I wasn’t thinking of the chain link and I saw the break in the middle of the nose. Squint your eye and the end of the nose looks like it’s the front left leg taking a step forward. Absolutely young possum. Thank you for the outline!!!

Anytime! This goofy possum should be on one of those optical illusion tests.

in my neck of the woods the possums come back every 2-3 days looking for a meal. When you get rid of one, another will shortly take it's place. One day far in the future my yard will be a paleontologist dream when they try to figure out what killed so many possums in one small area.
