Wow, I've never seen one up close, but that is what I would've guessed. Thank you for posting the pix...they usually eat roots and such, to the best of my knowledge.

They look really graceful when swimming. I used to hunt them with my brother. I was always a much better shot...but, that's another story for another day. Remember that goofy song...Muskrat Love???

a rare kinda breed of rat. I've seen them here in Indiana, and I saw something on the Discovery channel about them. I'll see what I can find online, and post a link. here it is! Its been spoted in NY! Nutria Rats!

Nope, definitely muskrat. That's a very typical animal here in Michigan.
