What the heck is this? Strange “egg”

It is soft. I poked a hole in it and there was a clear, thick fluid inside - looks like egg white. It does not smell.
I feed them Blue Seal layer feed and scraps from the kitchen occasionally. I have oyster shell but they don’t seem to like it so I provide crushed egg shell instead.

It could be just a glitch, but since she has had some soft eggs already, she may be experiencing a reproductive disorder. The shell gland which is located in the oviduct is where the shell is applied. This looks like one of the possible odd eggs that are seen. I would give human calcium with vitamin D for several days to see if it makes a difference. Certain respiratory viruses (infectious bronchitis) can cause egg shell problems, but these also can be found in the best egg layers. Hens over 2 are more likely to have problems.

Membrane with albumen.

Wouldn't hurt to give her extra calcium for 2-3 days, check for lice/mites and get a fecal float to see if worms might be causing an impact on health.

Here's the thing, I try to see things realistically. I understand for sure - my hens are pets too, but it wouldn't be uncommon for a 3yr old production bird to start having reproductive issues. Often these glitches/soft shelled eggs, etc. are an indication of things to come, so just monitor her, check her over and enjoy her.
