What the heck is this?

Never seen it before either. First thought is tumor. It somehow also looks like foreign material that piled on.

Did you touch it? Use gloves if that bothers you. How does it feel? Hard or squishy? Try to wiggle it a bit and see if it causes her discomfort. Does it feel like it can dislodged or does it stay firm?
I took these pictures after soaking her foot in warm water and Epsom salt. It's firm, not squishy or hard as a rock. It's so gross! It is definitely fully attached to that foot.

I agree that this is a cancer tumor. But I've never seen one like this.

@Eggcessive mentioned tying it off. That's what I would try. It's shape lends itself to this sort of treatment.

Tumors have a blood supply to nourish them and make them grow. By taking a thin string and tying it tightly around the base of the tumor you will cut off the blood supply to the tumor. Over time, being starved of nourishment, my guess is it should shrink, dry out, and hopefully fall off.

These tumors have roots, and depending on how deep the roots extend into the foot, the tumor would likely grow back. When it does, treat it again with the string to choke it.

I have a rooster that has a tumor on his leg. I've had other chickens with tumors. None of them seemed too bothered by them and live mostly normal lives.
