i dont think it is a black coper marans because they have feathery legs,
i think it could be a jersey giant or a mixof that due to his massive size.

I have one that looks just like that - and is three times the size of any other bird I have. Mine is way more coppered at the hackles but basically they look the same (Mine also has black legs - not pink). Mine came out of the "pullet" bin at tractor supply - Privett Hatchery. I have never found out what he is - but would like to know. I keep meaning to call Privett and ask but I never seem to get around to it. There are clean legged varieties of the black copper marans - and I suppose then it could be a hatchery version of one of those. If someone has a picture of a sexlink rooster that looks like this - I'd sure like to see one because I've looked at pictures of every sex-link rooster I could find online and don't see one. These grow too fast to be Jersey Giants I think - I had two and mine were huge as chicks. Mine is the best rooster I have and I wouldn't trade him for much no matter what he is. If you ever get a good i.d. on yours - I'd love to know.
