Sally has just begun to molt ( feathers EVERYWHERE) but when I picked her up today and looked at her comb there is this 'hole' ish thing and it has something inside it? Unless it's dead skin or something. She also has so yellow streaks on her feathers near the comb and her eye. I dont know it its the yolk form an egg ( I caught her and tweety eating an egg yesturday, that usually dosnt happen though) or something else

******UPDATE: Okay, so its not anything living, like a maggot or something. We tried to pull "it" out with tweezers, and there was absoluty no budging. Sally was VERY unhappy (for obvious reasons). But it looks more like alot of dead, flaky skin. I touched the area around the hole and it wasn't hot, more like normal skin tempurature and Sally didn't flinch from pain. I have put neosporin (sp?) in the hole, and will see how she is in the morning.

BY THE WAY: She's losing feathers VERY fast- she wasn't molting yesturday and she is now, rapidly. All the other chickens molted last week except her. Is she just molting or is the rapid feather loss due to this hole?

****** shes still eating and drinking, and does not seem in pain

I don't think I have ever seen a case of bumblecomb, but that's what it is. You need to pull that plug out and clean out the hole that's left.

Maybe there's a, well, it looks kind of like a dead maggot or maybe one of those bot flies. I would clean that out carefully, and put a topical ointment on it. Looks like it may have dried up puss on it. (I hate the word puss--sorry)

I made that up! Bumblefoot... bumblecomb.

It's just an abscess.
