What the heck.

Well i wish you all the best in trying to figure out what to do with your drakes because I have just about given up on mine. I have tried it all the mounting, the pick him up and putting him on his back the hose sprayed at full force, Nothing has worked. He was rejected by his mom so we brought him in and raised him inside for 3 months or more, now he is fully intergrated into the flock there are plenty of girls for him and our older drake but he will attack me for no known reason. I'm just wondering what he will be like next spring when breeding season starts, I don't want to have to do him in but I'm at my wits in on what else to do, it's like I can't even go out and enjoy being with everyone without him trying to start something.

Ducky if I talk my dad into mounting the duck I will definitely take a picture. Lol

As for ducky, we will ride it out. I guess. I can't get rid of him. He helped save my life I'm not going to end his. He's really not bad during breeding season. He didn't have girls and he was the sweetest thing!! I don't get it. I will go with he is on australia time. Lol.

Opie is here forever, i am just sad that he has decided that i am the enemy, after all he would have died if we hadn't have brought him in. I know they don't think that way but i feel as though i have created a monster by doing so. I don't pet him at all now and other than him trying to start something with me there is no interaction betweeen us. I talk to him when i'm out there with them all but that just seems to make him worse. I have got some pretty nasty bruises on my legs where he has grabbed me and bitten me. I will not let him bite me and get away with it, so i guess I'll just keep on the way I have been and hopefully it will make an inpresation soon.

Awe. Maybe he needs cuddles!? Is he a Muscovy? I know my scovy is a lover boy. That could be the route of my problem. I haven't let him come sit on my lap for cuddles. Mine was raised inside my bedroom for 7 months Maybe we have spoiled boys. Idk but I hope mine stops and I hope yours stops too. Maybe cuz it's winter and they have winter duckie depression? lol

Mines Muscovy too, he'll be 6 months old on Dec 2nd. I have been hugging him every chance i get, but i was worried that maybe making this worse. He has never tried to bite me when i have been cuddling him only when i am sitting down outside or walking around out there I will say I am very careful when i hold him though and mindful of where his bill is, My gander got me on the lip a few years ago and that was bad,.

maybe he is "playing" and doesn't know what hurts? Duckie does that too. if i lay in the grass he comes up and "plays" with me. he likes jeans and LOVES shoes. he has a shoe in his pen.

Nope Opie is challenging me, he comes up to me with his feathers out from his body just like the drakes do before they charge each other. and he has actually jumped on me with is feathers out like he is ready to fight, this is not play. He loves to nibble and use to do that to me and my dh but this is out and out bite. We will work it out some how because I ain't going away and he isn't either.

Especially coming from you, you are always so positive.

Maybe it is nothing any of us have done. Let us blame hormones and the shorter days for making our formerly sweet ducks into a rebel hoard.

My drake has yet to launch any serious assaults, but I sense he is looking for a way to topple my regime.

sheeeeesh...i have been planning on adding a drake and a couple more ducks in the spring but you guys are making me wonder about that idea after reading this about your drakes...
