what time do your birds roost for the night?

Yeah mine don't have an exact time per say they just go in right before nighfall. I go out about 8:30 to shut them in for the night because it's dark by then and i'm sure that they will all be inside. I still check and count though as once one did not go in and had to spend the night outside somewhere.

I have an Americauna that goes to bed around 8:45pm and the others slowly trail behind. If Big Red is in the coop before OddBall the rooster gets a chance to go in, she won't let him in! He has to enter to coop through the human door because she lies in wait and bits him as he tries to come in the coop door. By 9pm they are all inside, but still hashing out sleeping arrangements. My black australorps are now 19 weeks and have finally gotten the whole roosting thing and the big girls (Buff Orps) allow them places. The only one who has to fight for a spot is OddBall....poor roo!

My girls usually start roosting about 30 minutes before sunset it takes them that long to fight for the "best spot" it seems theres 3 roosts and they all want the one with the window view.lol.
I have one window and a door in my coop, when I open the egg box to check on them, not a single one is by that window, they are all piled on top of each other on the other side of the coop, they have two roosting bars and just ignore them for the dog pile.

weird... my flock is on the roosts by 5:30 pm... a whole two hours before sunset! They come down from the roosts around 8:00 am, or two hours after sunrise. Lazy birds.
