What time do your hens lay?

What time do they usually lay?

Mine usually lay in the AM hours. You'll know when they've laid an egg because they'll cackle like crazy for about 5min.

Mine lay in the mornings also, usually before 11am

I was wondering this same thing! Mines not laying yet but was wondering for future references so I'd know when they could be let out of their run to free range. Want them to lay the eggs in the nesting area and not make nests outside the pen. I know when I had my ducks I could turn them out about 11-11:30 every day. So I guess chickens are about the same.

Someone told me theirs lay all day long at different times. Had asked me how was I going to handle it with them free ranging when they started laying. I was like well I'll wait until after lunch to let them out and she tells me hers lay all day long.

Today i got my first egg. Happened sometime between 4pm and 8 pm. I sure hope this doesn't mean she'll always been a late layer lol

Wanted to add that all my friends who have chickens find eggs all day long

Chickens lay eggs about every 25 hours, so the time of day will gradually change.

Mine always lay in the afternoon. Between 2 and 6. I got them recently and they are around 2yrs.

oh ok thank you guys! Well I guess I will just have to leave the door open to the nesting area and pray they will go to their nests and lay in there. ????
