i was planning on using my silkie pullet to be a foster mother for the 5 chicks im getting but it turns out she hasn't even started laying let alone gone broody. so do you think that its ok to carefully introduce them to her and my other silkie rooster? and if its not safe should i order the chicks now so that they will be ready to live in the coop with the silkies by august because we will be away for a week then

I keep my chicks inside for about 4-5 weeks until they are feathered, then put them in with the older birds. I just make sure they have places they can go and hide in case they are getting bullied. I also watch closely the first day I put them in to make sure they aren't getting pecked to aggressively.

Not sure what you are asking? If the hen is not "broody" I would not put chicks with her. If you raise them in a brooder they will be able to be in your coop in August. Does that answer your questions? Hope so!
