What to charge for services? **UPDATE** GOT A BETTER JOB!!

Can't help you with amounts, but remember that any estimates that people give you may well differ drastically depending on location / region.

Cost of living in your area could make a difference. Also, if she's not well off, she's only going to be able to pay so much...and the job won't be there at all if you shoot too high, in that case. So, keep that in mind.

Another thing to consider:
What does an adult make for babysitting in someone else's home in your area? For doing light housework? For babysitting AND doing light housework? Will you need to lift the lady? If so, that adds a complication.

How about insurance issues? What happens if she gets hurt under your care? Do you have insurance that will cover you in case of a lawsuit? You may need to talk to your insurance agent about this. It's a serious consideration -- if something happens to her, even through no fault of your own, you could have family members of hers who see dollar signs swirling around.

Edited to add: Don't forget about tax implications, including paying social security, if needed.

Try looking in the phone book for Home Health Agencies, Waiver Provider Agencies or Group Homes. The rate of pay is generally the same. In Louisiana, people charge anywhere from $10.00 - $12.00 per hour but this is the poor state of Louisiana. Depending on your area, the hourly rate may be more. Call around.

Yeah this job is in North Mississippi not too far from my house...about 20ish miles.

Yeah, I think $12-15 an hour sounds reasonable. That's what I was going to say without reference and that's reinforced by the other replies. Adjust to one side of the end or another depending on just how much work it ends up being, her financial state, etc.

I accepted the job @................................................................... $6/hr....I have no choice. *sigh* We're already about to get the lights shut off in the next couple days...sooooooo I took it for wayyyyyyyy less than what I was willing to do, but it is what it is...temporary work. Somebody shoot me....I gotta wipe booty for peanuts

I was a home health aid for my sister when hers up and left.I was paid $12 an hr I just gave the money back to my sister cause she's my sister but that's what the state paid me.
She has cerebral palsy and a feeding tube light housework and laundry. Now she's in a group home with other girls and loves it.I think my mother was driving her nuts.
