Looking for help/advice…

We have one hen who has not been looking well for the past few days. She’s not eating or drinking much, lethargic and her comb is sagging.

Thinking she’s egg bound, we gave her an epson salt bath and a gentle massage last night and this morning. I don’t feel anything hard, but she’s squishy and definitely swollen.

I took a picture of her backside for you to take a look at. We’re trying to figure out if we should give it a few more days or put her down.

For people who have been through this before, please let me know your thoughts.

Is it her abdomen that feels squishy?
What will she eat? Could you persuade her to eat some scrambled/raw egg?

Hopefully @Eggcessive can give some advice on what could be wrong.
Good luck!

How old is she, and when did she lay her last egg? You can give her a human calcium citrate with D tablet or a Tums orally in case she is trying to lay an egg. Offer some water to her beak as well as feed or part of a soft cooked egg. Her lower belly does look a bit enlarged, which could be from fluid, a reproductive disorder, or fat. What does she eat? Is her crop empty and flat or full and puffy or firm? Check to see that it is emptying overnight by early tomorrow morning.
