Exactly. Leaves can be free. This winter I have been using shredded paper I make at home from our junk/used paper products. I can get wood chips for free if I hitch up my trailer and go the local county landfill. Bottom line, I have not bought any straw for about 20 years, using all the free resources I can find instead.
