what to do on day 18 (eggs lay flat or in cartons?) *Eggtopsy* *Graphic*

OK so tonight at 10pm will be exactly 21 days. The temp goes between 99.1 to 99.2 and the humidity is a steady 76%. does this seem right so far. They were really rocking last night so I thought for sure I was going to get a pip after I went to bed but got up today and nothing so I'm trying not panic I know that nothing in incubating has a set time but if someone could please help me with a question I have. when I checked the bator today the eggs did not move as much as they have in the past couple of days

Is this normal or should I be seeing more movement???? I have been putting my ear net to the bator but don't really hear anything however it is really hard to hear anything over the fan so

Any help or explanation would be great THANK YOU.
LOL. Waiting is soooo hard!!!! Plenty of people that see the eggs rocking get freaked out when they stop. USUALLY the silence in the eggs is them resting, cause let's face it, trying to turn and get into position in that cramped little space is hard and tiring work. Now, I have seldom seen my eggs actually move. I am stuck to that bator like glue (during all 21 days, but constantly from lockdown to hatch) and I still don't see movement. The couple times I thought I saw something I convinced myself that I bumped the bator or some such thing. I did have one egg last hatch that I could see rocking. Usually though I din't see much until the pip starts happening.

Your numbers all look great, so sit back and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you taht you see some action here soon!!

Oh, if you can, use a smartphone/mobile device to play chicks cheeping near the bator and you may just hear some start to respond and chirp back if they have internally pipped. I usually find a youtube video of new chicks peeping and play it over and over periodically through the day to motivate them. When they have pipped and you can see their beaks and you play the chirping, you'll see them react.

I'm really not sure that is possible. Thank you so much for all your help.

Sounds like you're headed for a wonderful hatch. If you really want to see if they've internally pipped yet, you can unplug the bator for a minute or two, all the better to hear them! Don't do what I've been known to do, and forget to plug it back in.

I don't think it's possible to stay calm or stop worry at hatch time. LOL Can't wait to see pics!!

I have been to terrified to mess with the bator sense lock down. I had a slow start getting it up to temp in the beginning. I think once I get the hang of it I will have better confidence.

You will gain confidence, especially after you have had your first successful hatch and you've found what works for you and you've made your mistakes and learned from them. My first hatch was awful, I learned from it and had an awesome second hatch and started to become confident in my philosophies. The most important thing I learned was not to let anyone make me feel guilty for the way I do things. (As long as it works for me, that's what matter's and not wether someone else would or wouldn't do it that way.) Everyone has a right to their opinion and people need a vast array of experiences to go from, but there is not one absolute way to do anything. I'm an avid candler, I don't leave my chicks in the bator until the end of hatch, and I have no problems assisting when I feel it's neccessasry. A lot of people don't believe in any of those things. That's fine - for them, I respect their procedure, it just isn't mine...lol
