If you lived closer, I'd have to admit I'd be sorely tempted to come get one!

We've had several skunks through our exotic mammal rescue (it was aimed at exotic mammals people tried to keep as pets) and we liked them all, but my favorite was a white one I bottle fed from a baby and kept for several years.

And she still had her glands.

She never sprayed us or OUR dogs but man did the neighbor's dog get it. He never came back after our chickens, funnily enough..

just a quick update for everyone one intreseted,

Several years ago we had a mother skunk take up residence under our wood shed. She had 5 babies that were so adorable. When I looked at your pictures, the memories flooded back. Mom would go off to get food and the babies would come from under the wood shed and play under the lilac bush next to it.

Every day they would get more and more bold, so would I. I have tons of pictures of those 5 growing up. It was a delight to watch her raise them. One day all were gone. We really missed them.

I'm glad that you did the right thing. Thanks so much for sharing the pics and bringing back those wonderful memories. I have a huge smile on my face!!

Unfortunately she came down with distemper and we had to have he put down, but she was so funny. Skunks are very similar to ferrets in personality.
