Hello

One of my black leghorn chickens started laying for a bout 3 weeks and then stoped and hasn't been laying for about 5 weeks.

Just wondering if this is normal or something I should do.

What is she currently being fed? What is the protein content in the feed?

Is she getting at least 16 hours of daylight?

She is getting about 11 hours of sunlight.

Could be that she's gone broody (although they usually give up after 3 or so weeks and she's kind of young for that).

If it's hot where you are that can slow egg production.

Unbalanced or inadequate diet can cause a drop too.

Illness or parasites, also. They hide illness well so give a physical exam and check carefully for changes in condition or behavior.

Stress can do it to so make sure there is no predator activity or that the social dynamics in your flock aren't causing upset.

We have checked for lice but have found none. There are foxes around but have not seen any in the backyard.
