What to do when they dont lay eggs in the nesting box ?! Please HELP

hello,
my hen just started laying .. today is the 2nd day.. i got already 3 eggs from her
but never in the nesting box.. one was broken... the other 2 are fine.. but its in the hen house but not in the box.
what should i do ??
why is that like that?

put an egg in the nesting box to encourage her to go in there. If she doesn't, a 5 gallon pail tipped on it's side might be the ticket

Congratulations on your new layer! A lot of people use golf balls too, and leaving always one egg in the nest helps to make sure she won't start laying somewhere else when she forgets where her nest is... it has happened before to our chickens, silly things.
