I had two hens go broody yesterday now they won't get off the nest! I was wondering if I can take them away from the rest of the flock and put them in a cage together? I was going to do this so the other hens won't bother them. I have only had 1 broody before and I had a bad experience because I didn't pay close attention to what the other hens were doing to her. I heard that this is what your supposed to do with brodies? Am I right?

Thanks!

You don't necessarily want them together or else they'll keep stealing each other eggs.. If you can put them "Together but separate" So that they each have their own nest box and can't see/reach each other, that might work.... Good luck!!

Cool, I'll try it.

Nava, lol nope they aren't the Anconas. 1 is a Buff Orpington and the other is a White Cochin.

I have 2 cochins in a hutch together and in a different hutch I have 1 BO hen and another cochin setting on eggs. They do fine together, just keep their nests apart from each-others because they will get into a different nest etc.

darn anconas, they don't like chicks,i've had mine for 2 years and she has never gone broody.
back to the bator i guess

I just took my broody ones off the nest, and put them out in the run with the other hens. Closed the chicken door so they couldn't go straight back in again. Inspired them with a bit of scratch, and problem was solved after two days. (I had to kick them out both mornings).

I don't mind if they go broody on me and hatch something. I'll just put some of my pure BB eggs under them!
