What to do with chickens when I am unable to care for them?

I've been diagnosed with lung cancer which will result in my being incapacitated at some point in the future. My daughter said that the humane society would take the chickens if I pre-registered them. Does anyone know about this? I plan on posting on this blog but I'd like to check out some other 'rescue' scenarios. BTW, I am doing well and still have energy and love the life which my girls have given me and so much fun.

I'd find local chicken groups or post on the 'Where am I, Where are you' California section here and you'll probably find someone to adopt your birds in the future, thereby avoiding the middleman.

If you can't find the links I'll help.
By the way, I hope you have a long and satisfying life.
