I live in Missouri & right now there's Thunderstorm Warnings & Tornado Watches by us. I have eggs in an incubator & need help on what to do if the power goes out. We

have a Tornado Watch 'til 10pm. So please give some advice!

Leave the lid shut, take it to your car (with a towel over it) put it in the floorboard... turn the heat on and blow on top of the incubator (wth the towel now off the incubator)

if it goes too long (more than a hour or two) call around and see if a friend or family member has power. Be careful not to move the thermostat knob!

wrap your incubator in a blanket if the power goes off don't open it. I forgot to plug mine back in for 8 hrs and mine hatched out fine they were on day 15 or 16......and I had some that were only a week in there too and they are just fine.

If it goes out more than a hour, make sure that a thick blanket is wrapped around the incubator. If you are expected really bad weather, and if you have time, I would invest in several packets of hot hands. You can also heat up bricks or stones to keep them warm. Just as long as they don't get freezing cold, they should make it.

I wrote that as fast as I could incase your power went out lol.

I live in East TN and we have tornado watches here now too. I have lived in this house for 3 years now and seen two tornados already... I lived in the next county (about 30 minutes away) for 15 years and never had a tornado. Isnt' that weird? All depends on how the land lies and how the high and low fronts tend to come in.

Well... good luck! Just stay calm and DON'T OPEN THE LID! it will let all the built up heat out.

go to Radio Shack, buy an AC converter that you can stick into the cig. lighter of your vehicle.

Turn on your vehicle, plug in the converter, plug in your bator.

Expensive as far as gas goes, but it's better than starting over.

Or you can buy a computer battery backup... but that only lasts for an hour or so.

Oh, and if you hear the tornado outside, take both you and the bator to the basement or storm cellar

Thanks everyone! I found a packet of hot hands that'll last for 10hrs so I'll use those when I have to & one of my fleece winter blankets to keep the heat in. Thanks again everyone!
